Creating Music with Children’s Musical Toys and Instruments

In many previous posts I have talked about children’s musical toys and instruments, emphasizing on how important it is to provide musical experiences for children of all ages. I have talked a lot about how they can be used to teach children about the elements of music but I have never really touched on creating actual music with them.

while checking out the news surrounding musical instruments this morning I came across a video of Adele singing her new Ballade “Hello” using only children’s musical instruments and toys as the accompaniment. The accompaniment is provided by Jimmy Fallon and The Roots. The Video is recorded in Jimmy Fallons music room backstage.

Musical instruments of the Classroom: Providing Musical Experiences For All Children

When most of us think of the musical instruments of the classroom we often think of concert band or orchestra instruments. These instruments are often introduced to our children in the middle grades. The grade these instruments are introduced vary from school to school. However, our children are provided with many other musical experiences in school long before they are introduced to band and orchestra instruments. Quite often these instruments are called classroom instruments mainly because they are commonly found in the music classroom.

In todays post I would like to introduce you to some of the classroom musical instruments that are commonly found in the music classroom of elementary schools and even some middle and high schools. For many children these are the first instruments they will ever play and for many they lead to a lifetime of musical enjoyment.

Todays post will discuss the most common instruments found in the classroom. This is by no means a complete list but an introduction to what your child actually does in the music classroom. Having this understand may give you a better understanding of how music class is benefiting your child and others.

Why Do We Need Inspiration? Instrumental Inspirations

Why do we need inspiration? It occurred to me that I have talked about all these great musicians and how inspiring they are but never ever really discussed why musicians need inspiration. There are many questions that can be asked when we think about inspiration. Many of these questions are asked by young beginning instrumentalists but even adults can have a hard time comprehending what a inspiration is and if they need one. Inspiration is an important part of every aspect of our life, but for music it can help us in many ways to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves.
